Comments:  I  had her parts lying around for over a year!  I bought her head when Volks had just discontinued their green hair heads. I wish I had one with normal skin too, but even when Volks was still making them they weren't that easy to find. I miss the old prerooted heads.  The vinyl was better quality, their faces were fuller, and even though the hair was plastic-y it didn't frizz like the hair Volks uses now. Maybe I should have stock-piled some of the old heads, but at $20 a pop that wasn't exactly realistic! ;_;

I feel like my painting is going downhill. There was a short time when I felt confident with my finished product, but now I'm almost as frustrated as I was when I started out! Maybe I'm just jaded? There hasn't been a single doll I've painted in the past 6 months that I haven't @__@-ed at for at least a week before becoming used to it. Man, there is no way I'm going to find confidence in doll-painting. ^___^;;;

This was my first time successfully boil-perming one of the old prerooted heads.  The hair feels pretty tough, but it actually can withstand LESS heat than NDR hair. I didn't want her to have huge hair. I made her hair into six braids (leaving out the front of the hair for bangs) and popped a plastic sleeve on her head.  Eight minutes in simmering (medium-low heat)  water was enough to give her nice waves.

For once, the gray eyes I tried to paint actually turned out gray! It's hard to find an eye color that looks good with green hair. It's like picking out glass eyes for an SD with a fantasy-color  wig. (Maya!) A neutral eye color like gray, brown or hazel can look very nice because it compliments the hair color rather than competing with it.

Now that I've been rooting most of my doll heads by hand, I've been running low on plastic sleeves. Don't make me buy a prerooted head just to swipe the sleeve!

6/9/03--I repainted Nadia. She looks a lot different from her old self, doesn't she? Maybe my brain had fallen asleep the first time, but I think that she looks like she was painted by a completely different person. ^_^;....Her eyes are pretty big, but I'm starting to think that's the only way to go with the A-type head. I tried to make her eyes bigger to make myself feel better about not being able to get that cute Volks catgirl doll. Yes, Volks has released a new line of 1/6 scale dolls, and you can't buy them! I should be happy now that Nadia has a new lease on life. Green hair is such a rarity, after all. ^o^
